Noted Violinist and string pedagogue Felicia Moye to join the Schulich School of Music string faculty.

Published: 27 January 2014

The Schulich School of Music announces the appointment of Violin Professor Felicia Moye beginning August 1st, 2014.

“We are tremendously pleased to welcome Felicia Moye as a member of our string faculty. Felicia has had an extraordinary career as first violinist of the Miami String Quartet, as a versatile orchestral and chamber musician, and as a soloist.  She brings a wealth of experience to the school, complementing the current string area faculty. Her easy, confident teaching style is most impressive.  She is a born pedagogue.”

–Douglas McNabney, Chair of Performance, Schulich School of Music

Ms. Moye’s career has taken her throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America and South Africa as a soloist and chamber musician with groups such as the Miami String Quartet, Orpheus and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.  She was the first violinist of the Miami String Quartet with whom she was awarded top prizes at both the Evian and London International String Quartet Competitions.  She is a dynamic chamber musician, and has performed in collaboration with the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, the Blossom Music festival, the Mostly Mozart Festival in Avery Fischer Hall and others.  She has also served as concertmaster of the Santa Fe Opera, Honolulu Symphony and as the acting concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony. Ms. Moye taught previously at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, the University of Oklahoma and at the Juilliard School’s pre-college division as the assistant to Ivan Galmian and Margaret Pardee.

"I'm excited to be a part of a program where everything is done at an exceptionally high level and provides an environment that nurtures each student to reach his or her maximum potential. Many schools do one or two things very well, but Schulich differs in that it excels in so many areas, be it chamber music, solo playing or orchestral training. I look forward to working with such talented students and I am thrilled to have my name attached to McGill's Schulich School of Music"

–Felicia Moye
