The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) will publicly launch its Best Care for Life capital campaign on September 19 and 20.
The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) will publicly launch its Best Care for Life capital campaign on September 19 and 20. The goal of the campaign is to raise $300 million in support of the redevelopment of the MUHC. This exciting health care milestone will be marked by events and presentations at the five partner hospitals of the MUHC (the Montreal Chest Institute, the Montreal Children's, Montreal General, Montreal Neurological and the Royal Victoria hospitals), culminating in a grand evening celebration at which the total raised by the campaign so far will be revealed.
"The redeveloped MUHC will truly be a world-class, patient-focused health centre," said Arthur T. Porter, Director General and CEO of the MUHC. "Our new and modernized facilities at the Mountain and Glen campuses will be built to the highest standards of comfort, efficiency and safety for our patients. Such features as single patient rooms, abundant natural light and easy way finding, dedicated family areas and the most advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment will ensure a healing environment that supports the best care for life for children, adults and the elderly." Porter added, "The facilities will also be designed to support our all-important medical research and to provide the best possible learning environment for our medical students."
The Best Care for Life campaign is a partnership of the foundations of the MUHC, and will raise the philanthropic portion of the $1.1 billion designated by the government for this health care redevelopment project. Of the $300-million campaign total, $200 million will go towards construction and renovation projects at the Glen and Mountain campuses, and $100 million will be used for the transitional needs of the current hospital sites. "The Best Care for Life campaign represents an unprecedented opportunity for members of the community to contribute to a project that will benefit our city and our community for generations to come," said campaign chair John A. Rae. "With the launch celebrations, we look forward to bringing this important message both to the MUHC family and to the public at large."
