Quest for Excellence Growing up in Canada, Lubna Al Kharusi did her Bachelor's in Commerce from McGill University. She returned to Oman because 'it was sunny, tax free and her family was here.' She joined the finance department of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in 1997. In her stint covering 10 years at the company she handled various responsibilities like budgeting, treasury, financial accounting, change management, investor relations, well engineering, financial services etc. She was cross posted to Shell in London from PDO. While working at PDO she pursued a chartered accountancy course, becoming a fellow of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). She left PDO after a decade to work for Takamul (a part of Oman Oil Company) as its financial manager. She took a break from work to pursue a Master's in London. On her return, Lubna joined Omran as the chief financial officer. She is also acting as the company's chief strategic officer, chief investment officer and sits on the board of some of Omran's joint venture companies.
