Miller scores school record 44 points as Martlets bash Bishop's

STE. ANNE DE BELLEVUE, Que. - Brianna Miller exploded for a school record 44 points as McGill skunked the visiting Bishop's Gaiters 109-0 at McEwen Field, Saturday, on the final weekend of regular season play in Quebec university women's rugby action.
It marked the eighth time in history that the Martlets had reached the 100-point plateau and was the team's largest margin of victory since a 116-0 slam-dunk over Sherbrooke on Sept. 25, 2005. The Martlets' single-game scoring record is 141 points in a shutout over Sherbrooke on Sept. 29, 2002.
Miller scored three tries to go along 13 conversions and one drop goal, Her performance matched the single-game conference record for most conversions, set by Sandra Simpson in the aforementioned win over Sherbrooke in 2005.
Miller was also one of a school-record dozen Martlets to be inscribed on the scoring summary.
Freshman Emily Barber of Fenelon Falls, Ont., and Victoria Horne added two tries apiece. Rounding out the scoring with one try each was Michelle Crook, Maggie Keating, Marie-Hélène Laforest, Amandra Mongeon, Meagan Paul, Amy Qi, Caroline Suchorski, Trischa Walsh and Jessica Wong,
The winless Gaiters finished last of six teams in the league with an 0-6 record. McGill ended up third with a 4-2 record and will play at second-place Concordia in a conference semifinal on Oct. 21 at 7 p,m.
