The McGill University Health Centre eager to begin joint work with the Shriners Hospital on Glen Campus

Published: 17 April 2008

The McGill University Health Center (MUHC) welcomes the announcement made this morning by the Shriners organization with respect to the upcoming construction of their Canadian hospital on the Glen Campus. The MUHC has already reserved a five acre plot at the entrance to the Glen Campus for the new Shriners Hospital for Children building, adjacent to the Montreal Children's Hospital pavilion.

"This important decision completes the offer of pediatric care at the MUHC Glen Campus. As a result, young patients requiring orthopedic care will benefit from the expertise of the Shriners and the Montreal Children's Hospital on the same site," explained Dr. Arthur T. Porter, Director General and CEO of the MUHC. "This partnership with the Shriners Hospital for Children has solidified our goal of providing the best care for life in an environment at the cutting edge of technology."

In the coming months, the MUHC will work closely with the Shriners organization to identify features and adjacencies required by the two pediatric hospitals. Meanwhile, the MUHC will continue the process of selecting a private partner for the construction, in public-private partnership (PPP) format, of its facilities at the Campus Glen.
