Life Sciences Library website is MOVING

Published: 7 July 2008

Welcome to the Life Sciences Library’s new web site!

www.mcgill.ca/lsl

We hope you will find the new site easy to navigate and benefit from its new features. The new site will be in beta test mode until Aug 4, 2008 when the current site (http://www.health.library.mcgill.ca/) will be shut down permanently. The new web site conforms to the policies and guidelines as established by the McGill Web Publishing Software (WPS) on the central McGill Web System. This style of web publishing is endorsed and used by the entire McGill Library system. Major changes to the website are as follows:

  • "Quick Links" in the current website have been renamed "Key Resources" in the new website. The section labelled "Quick Links" provides links to system wide resources.
  • "Branch Links". This section replaces the "Research" section on the current website. Fundamental changes have been made which will have direct impact on users. Please read the sections descriptions below carefully.
    • Databases: can be searched by title or listed by subject. The alphabetical listing pertains to ALL databases subscribed to by the McGill Libraries.
    • E-journals: similar to databases, life sciences electronic journals can be searched by title or displayed by subject. The alphabetical listing displays all the electronic journals currently subscribed to by the McGill Library.
    • E-books: this section of the website remains identical to the current site
    • Subject guides: follow the same format as the current website with some modifications. The subject guides will be used as teaching tools and therefore ccontain all the information pertaining to that subject. New features to the subject guides include: the name of the liaison librarian responsible for the subject, as well as a link to recent e-books and e-journals on the topic. Eventually we hope to add pre-constructed searches to randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and more.
  • Forms : all the different electronic forms from the current site have been migrated to the new site
Please note that not all sections of the new website have been completed. We will be working hard over the next few weeks to complete the website before the current one is terminated. Also please use the next few weeks to update your bookmarks and change any links you may have to the current Life Sciences Library website.

If you have comments or questions about the new website please send them to Louise O'Neill and/or Angella Lambrou and/or Andrew Collier. We appreciate hearing from you!
