Learning in the Trenches

Published: 6 December 2011

I did my Bachelors in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering at Lokmanya Tilak College of Engineering under Mumbai University. I worked for three years at Tech Mahindra Ltd starting as a software tester, progressed on to being a developer, senior developer and finally a work package co-ordinator before I joined the MBA programme at McGill.

The international composition of the students as well as the faculty, brand recognition across the globe, focus on experiential learning, smaller class size and access to a global alumni network put McGill on the top of my list. The location of the school in Montreal was also an added attraction.

We learn just as much from interactions among our classmates as we do from the course. The small class size and integrated approach to learning are also distinctive features of the McGill MBA. There is a lot of focus on experiential learning through internship and study abroad programmes, which add value to the MBA experience. We also have a CEO speaker series and mentorship programme that provide exclusive access to some interesting 'high profile' movers and shakers of various industries giving us a sneak-peek into their lives and helping us understand some of the issues related to higher management.
