IMHA Research Ambassadors Knowledge Translation Award to Dr. Dieter Reinhardt

Published: 26 November 2010

This year, the CIHR Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (IMHA) created a new award to be given to the Principal Investigator who superiorly communicated the research plans for an IMHA-funded grant or award to a lay audience. Dr. Reinhardt's  operating grant application entitled "Mechanisms of microfibril biogenesis and function in health and disease" not only scored #1 out of 57 for its research plans but also received an honorable mention for communicating these research plans to a lay audience in a comprehensive, highly informative and easy to understand fashion. The review was performed by non-scientist consumers, called "IMHA Research Ambassadors," identified by health charities relevant to IMHA. Dr. Reinhardt's award is thus called the "IMHA Research Ambassadors Knowledge Translation Award."
