Wow!! In the past year, over 2,000 participants(!) attended Staff Development workshops and information sessions. Thank you for your participation, enthusiasm and constructive feedback and congratulations on good learning well done. Now the challenge is to make it work for you!
Fall calendar — The fall calendar is now available. Most of the previously offered workshops are again offered this fall, while many others will be made available pending sufficient demand. Over 25 workshops are available for your development. See you there! More information
New! Leadership Development Program — Supervisors on your mark! The launch of the Leadership Development Program for first-level supervisors is planned for this fall, with the first workshop anticipated in November. More details on the program will be provided during the information sessions taking place on September 26 and 30. Register for both the information session and the program now to ensure your place!
Improved workshops — Frontline Customer Service — improved! Business Writing — improved! Project Management — improved! Also, all of the workshops have been aligned with the new Competency Directory, which provides a focused and forward-looking framework for training.
Finance and software courses — The Accounting Department has developed a series of workshops that address the various policies, procedures, concepts and skills required for the effective execution of administrative responsibilities at McGill. Please see the Staff Development calendar for details and registration. Also, software courses in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others are available again through Continuing Education. French Conversation at Work — Last placement test for the fall term: September 13. Places are limited, first come first served, so sign up today!
Development tip: Following your participation in a workshop, share your learning, insights, enthusiasm and optimism with others while it's fresh! This will not only broaden the impact of what you learned, but also create a community and structure to help integrate the new ideas in practice. Why not ask briefly for the floor at a staff meeting or write a three-point summary of things to share with your colleagues? Be creative! Have fun!
