MONTREAL - The Montreal Stars of the Canadian Women's Hockey League, featured a rare photo opportunity for five former members of the McGill Martlets as each of them were among the official starting six in a home-ice win against Burlington, Sunday. Standing at attention for the national anthem were defencemen Catherine Ward and Carly Hill, along with forwards Vanessa Davidson, Rebecca Martindale and Alyssa Cecere.

The CWHL is made up of teams in Toronto, Brampton, Burlington, Montreal, Boston and Calgary. There was a single women's league in Canada earlier this decade called the National Women's Hockey League. Western teams broke away because of high travel costs. The NWHL suspended operations in 2007 and the current CWHL rose from the ashes, driven by the players themselves.
