LSA President Selected from a Pool of 500 Applicants

This year’s President of the McGill Law Student Association, Éloïse Gagné, is one of 11 Canadian university students who will spend a day shadowing some of the country’s top senior executives.

Gagné will shadow Thierry Vandal, President and CEO of Hydro-Québec, on February 12. The fourth-year student will have the opportunity to put into practice the concepts she has been learning at the Faculty, and to acquire real-world tools and skills she’ll need when launching her career.

“This is an invaluable opportunity to experience the inside workings of a major corporation and to meet its exceptional managers,” said Gagné. “The selection process was demanding, but it was also excellent training, allowing participants to get to know ourselves better—our strengths and our areas for improvement. As a law student interested in the business world, I hope to gain understanding of what underlies the management of a large organisation like Hydro-Québec, and to see how public policy influences their decisions.”

The “CEO x1 Day” program is organized by Odgers Berndtson, a global executive search firm. “Our ‘CEO x 1 Day’ program is designed to uncover Canada’s most promising future leaders,” said Roger Duguay, Managing Partner at Odgers Berndtson. The finalists were selected for their academic achievements, outstanding leadership, interpersonal skills and international work or study experience.
