ECE grads Yining (Fiona) Yuan and Christopher Tegho win the 2014 Scotiabank Ecoliving Student Leadership Award
As the cherry on top of graduating from their B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering just weeks ago, Fioana and Christopher were honoured with a $10,000 prize as part of the 2014 Scotiabank Ecoliving competition for their work on developing an artificial intelligence-based software tool to disagregate one's electric energy consumption. This tool should enable people to become better aware of their electricity consumption and to help them adopt more sustainable energy uses and habits.
The work that led to this award was initiated as part of the Design Project course sequence in the Department of ECE at McGill. During this project, they were supervized by Prof. François Bouffard, and they also worked with Mr. Matthew Gidaro da Silva, another B.Eng. student in the Department.
