Published: 13 May 2015

We're proud to announce that one of faculty members Dr. Mark Ware, Associate Professor in the McGill Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Anesthesiology, is leading the launch of the Quebec Cannabis Registry, one of the largest studies ever conducted on medical marijuana. This project has a registry for users of medical cannabis in Quebec (headed by The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) and the Canadian Consortium for the Investigation of Cannabinoids (CCIC)), allowing physicians to better manage its use and monitor patient safety. It represents the world’s first research database on the use of cannabis for medical purposes and places the province at the forefront of research in the field of medical cannabis. Over the long term, this ten-year project will result in a research database that will be made available to the international scientific community. Dr. Ware is the principal investigator of the study, Director of the Canadian Consortium for the Investigation of Cannabinoids (CCIC), Director of Clinical Research at the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit of McGill University Health Centre and an active member of the McGill Department of Family Medicine’s research and graduate studies division.
