Deadlines:

CIHR Registration:  Monday, August 17, 2009 (via ResearchNet).

Registration is mandatory and late registrations are not accepted by CIHR. The Nominated PI completes and submits the registration form online in ResearchNet. RGO is not involved in the registration process as University signatures are not required at this stage.

CIHR Full Application:  Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 5:00 pm EST

When you click on the submit button, your grant will be sent to RGO for approval and submission to CIHR. A copy of your completed signature pages must be on file at RGO by the deadline or your grant will not be forwarded to CIHR.

NEW THIS ROUND – The Principal Applicant is responsible for mailing the original signature pages (including the Routing Slip) to CIHR, postmarked by September 15, 2009.

Full RGO Internal Administrative Review: Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 12:00 noon EST. To have your application reviewed, click the submit button in ResearchNet so that RGO has access to your file.  During the review, you will not have access to your application online, so be sure to save a copy so that you can continue to work on it.

Important: CIHR is enforcing its policy on complete applications. Effective September 1, 2008, applications submitted to CIHR that do not contain all of the necessary information as described within the Funding Opportunity description and corresponding application forms will be withdrawn from the competition process.

RGO procedure for submission via ResearchNet

STEP 1: The Nominated PI must register by Monday, August 17, 2009 online using ResearchNet choosing carefully which “Institution Paid” will administer the funds:

·        CFAA:  McGill University (RGO)

·        CFAC:  Research Institute of the MUHC

·        CFAD:  Douglas Hospital Research Centre

·        CFAF:  Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital (LDI)

STEP 2: Researchers may request a budgetary and administrative internal review when they submit their application via ResearchNet to RGO by 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. The grant will be returned to the PI within 2-3 business days with comments, after which the PI must again click the submit button by the final 5:00 pm EST Tuesday, September 15 deadline.

STEP 3: Applicants must complete and obtain the proper signatures on the RGO Checklist (Applicant, Chair and Dean):

RGO must sign as the “Signature of Authorized Official” on the CIHR signature pages. Please bring the duly signed RGO Checklist and CIHR Signature Pages to RGO before September 15, 2009 at 5:00 pm.  If we do not have a copy of your completed signature pages by this deadline, your grant application will not be forwarded to CIHR.

Please do not forgot:

·        Original “wet” signature required from the Nominated Principal Applicant.

·        Co-applicant signatures can be faxed or stamped copies.

·        Co-applicants from separate Institution Paid (including McGill affiliates: MUHC, Douglas & JGH) require a signature from the co-sponsoring institution.

·        Please obtain all required signatures before coming to RGO for McGill’s Authorized Signature:

               §  Nominated Principal Applicant and all Co-applicants

               §  Chair’s and Dean’s signatures on RGO checklist

               §  Co-sponsoring institutional signatures for all Co-applicants at other institutions besides McGill (CFAA)

STEP 4: The final deadline to electronically submit the grant application to RGO for submission to CIHR is 5:00 pm EST on Tuesday, September 15, 2009.  Important:  After this time, you will not be able to submit the grant.
