CEIM Innovation Québec shortlisted by Gov. of Canada

Published: 20 June 2014

(Montreal, June 20, 2014). The Centre d’entreprises et d’innovation de Montréal (CEIM) has been shortlisted by the Government of Canada under the Canada Accelerator and Incubator Program (CAIP) for its Innovation Québec project. The announcement was made today in Waterloo, Ontario, by the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper.

CEIM is among the outstanding Canadian incubators and accelerators that have demonstrated exceptional productivity and met strict criteria for eligibility and selection.

CAIP is administered by the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). Once the selection process has been completed, CEIM may receive support over a five-year period in the form of non-repayable contributions under the CAIP.

With that support, CEIM would be able to broaden the range of services it offers to innovative start-up companies in the early stages to enrich the community of SMEs that present investment opportunities and show the potential to become sustainable companies with strong prospects for growth.

In addition, the Innovation Québec project will make it possible to develop and implement a platform in partnership with McGill University to strengthen industrial collaborations and the creation of spin-off companies. Under the terms of the agreement, CEIM and McGill will unite their efforts and develop synergies designed to benefit entrepreneurs and the economic development of Quebec and the rest of Canada. That partnership will also help strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem that is already in place in the Quartier de l’innovation in Montreal.
