Beloved Canadian chanteuses Kate and Anna McGarrigle are pleased to announce their 2008 Christmas Concert

Beloved Canadian chanteuses Kate and Anna McGarrigle are pleased to announce their 2008 Christmas Concert, taking place on December  10th at Carnegie Hall.  They will be joined onstage and in song by Rufus and Martha Wainwright and other very special musical guests (including Emmylou Harris, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Jimmy Fallon, and Teddy Thompson) for the McGarrigle Christmas Hour.

As an inspirational tribute to the wonderful care that she received in her hometown of Montreal, Canada, Kate McGarrigle has founded the Kate McGarrigle Fund (a not-for-profit partner of the Cedars Cancer Institute and the MUHC Foundation). Through the Cedars Cancer Institute, the Fund supports cancer care and research at the McGill University Cancer Centre and the renowned teaching hospitals of McGill University in Montreal, including the McGill University Health Centre and the Jewish General Hospital.

In keeping with the season’s spirit of giving, a limited number of Concert Packages have been made available by the Kate McGarrigle Fund and can be acquired through donation to the Fund. Proceeds from these Packages go towards the Kate McGarrigle Fund in support of cancer care and research in Montreal, Canada. The Packages include the following exclusive benefits:

  • A ticket for the concert (an excellent centre seat near the front of the house)
  • The opportunity to attend a “meet and greet” with the performers after the show
  • A gift bag

These Concert Packages can be acquired by making a donation of $800 to the Kate McGarrigle Fund. The first 50 donors will also receive an invitation to attend a taping of the show the day following the concert. The donation amount can be paid in either Canadian or US funds and is 100% tax-receiptable in the country of origin.
