MONTREAL - Gideon Balloch, a native of Hong
Kong, is the McGill University athlete of the week, sponsored by Ye
Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, for the period ending April 1,
2012.
Balloch, a 6-foot, 185-pound winger on the men's rugby team, was
named "man of the match" after scoring 16 points in his final game
as McGill rallied from a 13-point deficit to defeat Harvard 41-30
and capture the 33rd Covo Cup game in Cambridge, Mass.,
Saturday.
The 22-year-old mechanical engineering senior tallied a pair of
tries and added three conversions. Born in Ottawa, Balloch moved to
Hong Kong in his youth and enrolled at McGill in 2007 out of the
International School of Beijing.
He will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
