Auerbach, Morin-Boucher named McGill athletes of the week

MONTREAL -  Casey Auerbach of Westmount, Que., and Alexandra Morin-Boucher of St. Gabriel de Brandon, Que., have been named as the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 12, 2010.

 

Auerbach, a five-foot-11, 187-pound shortstop with the baseball Redmen, batted .533 in four weekend victories. He went 8-for-13 batting in the clean-up spot, with five RBIs, three walks, a pair of doubles and two runs scored. On Saturday, he went 6-for-8 in a doubleheader as the visiting Redmen swept Ottawa, Saturday, winning 12-0 in the opener and 7-0 in the night-cap at Heritage Park. The 22-year-old English junior is a transfer from Concordia and previously attended St. Johnsbury Academy. He is also a product of the Lac St. Louis Cardinals.

 

Morin-Boucher, a five-foot-six midfielder with the Martlets soccer team, scored four goals in two weekend victories for McGill. The 21-year-old physical education junior netted a hat-trick, including the game-winner in a 5-1 home-field victory over Sherbrooke last Friday, then scored the insurance marker in Sunday's 3-0 win at Bishop's. Morin-Boucher enrolled at McGill in 2008 out of College Régional de Lanaudiere à Joliette.
