Announcing the 2012 recipients of the AUCC Students for Development awards

Published: 12 April 2012

The Internship Offices Network is pleased to announce that McGill University was awarded eight Students for Development awards for the summer 2012, as part of its multi-year projects with Green Power and Nexos Voluntarios, through the AUCC Students for Development competition (AUCC-SFD), funded by CIDA.

The AUCC-SFD program supports internships for senior-level Canadian students (upper-level undergraduate to PhD) to work with partner organizations in developing and emerging countries, for a minimum of three months and for academic credit, with an award of $6,500.  McGill University now has two multi-year AUCC-SFD projects, one with Nexos Voluntarios, a Peruvian NGO, and one with Green Power, a Kenyan NGO.  The programs are run as a partnership between the Institute for the Study of International Development, the Internship Offices Network, and the respective developing country partner.

The 2012 AUCC-SFD recipeints are: Avrah Levitan-Cooper, Jefferson Morris, Alana Taylor, Sophie Papineau-Wolff and Nadia Argueta for internships with Nexos Voluntarios; and Etienne Cayer, Liam Kirwin and Kimberley Smith for internships with Green Power.
