Alexandre Bien-Aimé wins for Best Opening Statement at Sopinka
At the Sopinka Cup moot competition held in Ottawa in mid-March, the team of Alexandre Bien-Aimé and Andrew Carvajal represented the prosecution in the trial of a charge of dangerous driving while racing, causing death.
Alexandre received the individual prize for the Best Opening Statement (from among eight opening statements made at the four trials), and according to professor Sklar, “both he and Andrew were excellent in their presentation of the Crown's case.”
The previous month, Andrew and Alexandre took First Prize at the Quebec Round of the Sopinka competition, also known as the Guy-Guérin Cup.
The Faculty wishes to thank their coaches defence lawyer Suzanne Costom, Crown prosecutor Lori Weitzman and defence lawyer Julio Peris, as well as Professor Ron Sklar.
