2008 Mignault Moot win!

Published: 11 February 2008

The McGill team returned from the Mignault Moot, held February 8-9 at UQAM, with the prize for second best memorandum (defense) prepared by Kerianne Wilson and Adele D'Silva, with help from their teammates Myriam Couillard-Castonguay and Rafal Jeglinski.

Our two teams performed well before Judges Hilton and Rochon from the Quebec Court of Appeals and Judge Crête from the Superior Court. The case dealt with a forced abandonment of a building which was then seized as compensation for unpaid work.

Law alums Alexandre-Philippe Avard, Philippe Dufort-Langlois and Jean Lortie from McCarthy Tétreault, and assistant professor Lara Khoury gave uncounted hours while coaching the team. Assistant professors Bachand and Emerich as well as last year's Mignault winners, Joshua Krane, Marcelo Garcia and Frédéric Desmarais, also provided help.

Congratulations to Kerianne Wilson, Adele D'Silva, Myriam Couillard-Castonguay and Rafal Jeglinski for their hard work, involvement and enthusiasm.

McGill will be hosting the Mignault Moot's 31st edition next year.
