Résumé

(En anglais seulement) The speaker will trace the evolution from Roman, Ancien Regime to the Civil Code of Lower Canada under which the law of mandate and the office of a testamentary executor was based on bienfaisance or acting gratuitously to art. 1300 CCQ, which flips the paradigm on its head in Quebec. Essentially, selflessness is now replaced with self-interest as an administrator is entitled to remuneration unless the administration is gratuitous.
