The Department of Italian Studies welcomes Dr Claudio Giunta from the University of Trento as part of its Speakers Series.  This talk will touch on the work of Dante's predecessors, and their influence on Dante's masterpiece The Divine Comedy.

Claudio Giunta teaches at the Department of Literary Studies, Linguistics and Philology at the University of Trento. He is a graduate of the University of Pisa and has done graduate work at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. His interests include Romance poetry of the Middle Ages, the history of criticism and philology, and contemporary culture.  In addition to numerous articles, he has published the following books:  Versi a un destinatario. Saggio sulla poesia italiana del Medioevo (Bologna: Il mulino, 2002); Codici: saggi sulla poesia del Medioevo (Bologna: Il mulino, 2005) et L'assedio del presente. Sulla rivoluzione culturale in corso (Bologna: Il mulino, 2008).
