Bring your own device (BYOD) to this hands‐on workshop on using open sourced and web‐based technology to engage learning and enable problemsolving in mathematics.

Topics:

  • Using web‐based (and database connected) interactive math apps to ensure a solid foundation in math skills
  • Flipping the class using presentation software and screen‐capture video
  • Enabling students to create their own web‐based videos to solve problems and share understanding
  • Using web‐based rubric tools to assess student projects

Greg Scruton is a graduate of McGill University’s Bachelor of Education program. He has been teaching Mathematics and Computer Science at Trafalgar School for Girls for over twenty years. In his spare time he writes computer programs for his students. He is also interested in robotics and is the current leader of the Trafalgar Robotics Club.
