Fighting Infection: An Enduring Problem!


Youssef L. Bennani is currently Site Head and Vice-President-R&D at Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Canada)
Inc. Over the past ~20+ years, he successfully led research programs in therapeutic areas such as
neurology, metabolism, immunology, infection [bacterial, viral and fungal], and oncology, delivering
more than 25 new molecular entities, reaching pre-clinical, human clinical development and market
stages. His education consists of a Doctorate degree (PhD) in chemistry from Université de Montréal,
under the direction of Dr. S. Hanessian, post-doctoral studies at The Scripps Research Institute, under
Dr. K. B. Sharpless, in La Jolla; an E-MBA from LFGSM, in Chicago, Illinois and ICD.D from McGill-Rothman
Business Schools. He also chairs the BOD of Domain Therapeutics in France and Canada. To date he
communicated over 250 publications (articles, reviews, patents & patent applications) and several
keynote lectures around the world. Devoted to new drug discovery and development.
