As cultural life thrives in Montreal and expands outside of downtown and into the different neighbourhoods, the urban night represents a hotly disputed cultural and social space. Building on last year's discussion on the night and cultural neighbourhoods, Culture Montréal, The McGill Institute for the Study of Canada and The Urban Night Research Team, and the POP Symposium present a public conversation aimed at producing a written manifesto for the recognition and preservation of a cultural nightlife in Montreal. This manifesto will be intended as a consensual public declaration, an expression of the intentions, aims, and values of those invested in the diverse cultural spheres of the metropolis; for governmental workers and officials, the private sector, residents, authorities, and also artists, promoters, producers, members of the cultural industries and nightlife culture enthusiasts, in Montreal and beyond.
Open to all.
