True sports heroes seem to thrive under pressure. When victory requires a goal or the perfect 10, elite athletes have the uncanny ability to block out the roar of the crowd and perform with skill and precision. How do they do it? Professor Gordon Bloom delves into the minds of some of North America’s most successful athletes as he describes the psychological strategies behind their physical achievements. He’ll explain how the same methods can help you to step up your own performance at work and in life.

Gordon Bloom is an Associate Professor of Sport Psychology in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at McGill. In studying how elite coaches motivate and communicate with athletes, he has worked with some of the world’s best. He has also served as a consultant to individual athletes and teams at the Olympic, professional and amateur levels, including hockey’s Montreal Canadiens.

Professor Bloom currently works with Olympic hopefuls at Canada’s National Training Centre, where he oversees a mental training program designed to help athletes overcome anxiety, improve concentration and build confidence.

Please note that online registration is available until September 16, 2008. After this date, only phone, fax and mailed-in registrations will be processed.
