In this presentation Dr. Langevin will provide an overview of current bullying research with an emphasis on potential response strategies and evidence of their effectiveness in stopping bullying. Principles of client-centred interventions will also be discussed.

Biography:

Marilyn Langevin, PhD., R.SLP, SLP(C), CCC-SLP

University of Alberta

With more than 25 years of involvement in the delivery of treatment for stuttering, Dr. Marilyn Langevin is the Director of Research at the Institute for Stuttering Treatment and Research and Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Sciences inthe Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Alberta. Her research interests include the social impact of stuttering on preschool and school-age children, evidence-based treatment, and evidence-based clinical training practices. She is the author of Teasing and Bullying: Unacceptable Behaviour, a program that aims to reduce bullying in schools and educate students about stuttering.
