Deadline for Nominations: Faculty Teaching Award

The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce its annual Award for Distinguished Teaching, to be presented at the Spring 2009 Convocation.

Purpose of the Award

  • Honour excellence in teaching over a period of years
  • Acknowledge distinguished teaching in all forms, from large lectures, seminars and tutorials, thesis and student teacher supervision
  • Recognize commitment to the development of excellence in teaching at McGill and beyond.

Eligibility

This award is open to all full-time academic staff in the Faculty of Education.

Nomination Procedure

Individuals (students, graduates or faculty members) wishing to make a nomination (of self or other) should do so by completing and submitting the attached nomination form to the Chair/Director of his/her Department/School by February 1, 2009.

The award will recognize excellence in teaching in one or more of the following areas:

  • classroom teaching
  • mentoring and supervision (supervision of student teachers, internships and graduate students, etc.) and
  • educational leadership (work on curriculum projects, innovative instructional development, consultation with colleagues on teaching, conducting seminars or workshops on teaching and learning topics, research/publications on teaching).

Deadline

The completed nomination form must be submitted to the Chair of the Department by February 1, 2009.

Selection Procedure

The department head will forward the nominations, together with recommendations, to the Dean's Office by February 15, 2009. The nominations will be reviewed by the Human Resources Management & Development Committee. The name of the successful candidate will be communicated to the Secretariat Office by March 31,2009. The award will be presented at the Spring Convocation.
