Champlain Revisited is an exhibition celebrating the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City in 1608 by the intrepid navigator and explorer, Samuel de Champlain. Drawing on material held by the Rare Books and Special Collections Division of the McGill University Library, the exhibition includes Champlain’s original published voyages, which contain valuable iconographic and cartographic information about early New France. This exhibition also highlights the Tercentenary celebrations of 1908, which was a magnificent testimony of Canada’s gratitude to those figures who contributed to its history. A lasting reminder of the 300th anniversary celebrations is to be found in the documents and colourful special supplements, souvenir booklets, albums and post cards on display.
