Campus Sustainability Day

Wednesday, October 22, 2008 12:00to16:00
Ferrier Building 840 avenue du Docteur-Penfield, Montreal, QC, H3A 0G2, CA

October 22, 2008 Campus Sustainability Day (CSD) celebrates sustainability in higher education. On a designated day (month or week), usually in October, colleges and universities are encouraged to create events on campus and elsewhere that draw participants for the exchange of ideas and knowledge among faculty, staff, and students, from across all departments and disciplines, and even from across the campus "edge" between town and gown. This is the kind of integrated, comprehensive planning that is a major focus for higher education planners among SCUP's constituency, as well as for the increasing number of professionals who hold campus sustainability positions.

CSD is devoted specifically to the achievements of and challenges for the tens of thousands of students, faculty, and staff working to instill sustainability principles in higher education institutions and their surrounding communities.

Join SCUP's live interactive webcast (streaming video) with guests Andrew Revkin, science reporter for The New York Times, Richard Moss, vice president and managing director for Climate Change for the World Wildlife Fund-US (and a member of the 2007 Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) team), Anthony Cortese, president of Second Nature, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making healthy, just, and sustainable action a foundation of higher education, and Jessy Tolkan, executive director of programs for the Energy Action Coalition.
During the discussion, panelists will talk about the latest scientific information on climate change, as well as the convergence of campus staff, faculty, and student activity in efforts to address climate change and sustainability on campus in 2008-2009. You will also have the opportunity to submit text questions to the panelists during the live program.
