Malalai Joya, 27-year-old member of the Afghan Parliament. The BBC has called Joya "the most famous woman in Afghanistan." She first gained international attention when she publicly denounced warlords at the 2003 Constitutional Loya Jirga (traditional grand assembly) in Kabul. She was elected to the National Assembly, or Wolesi Jirga, in September 2005, as a representative of Farah province, with the second highest number of votes in the province.
