Thursday, October 2, 2008 18:00to21:00
Big Rock Brewery, 5555 - 76th Avenue SE, Big Rock Brewery, 5555 - 76th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB, CA

The Alumni Association of Southern Alberta wants to give you an inside look at one of Calgary’s finest institutions, the Big Rock Brewery. The dream of proud Albertan Ed McNally, Big Rock has been producing some of North America’s finest beers and ales since 1986. This is a unique opportunity for McGill alumni and friends to tour this leading brewery and sample their products.

The evening will kick off with a reception at 6:00 pm, followed by a tour at 6:30 pm, and a social gathering from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm, which will feature a wide selection of appetizers and refreshments.

Big Rock beer is brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot, the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. This means that they use only four ingredients – malted barley, hops, yeast and water – to create their all-natural flavour.

The brewery tour will cover the Mill Room, Mash Tun, Lauter Tun, Brew Kettle and Hot Wort Tanks, as well as the Fermenting, Filtration, Kegging, and Canning and Bottling departments. Participants will receive nine 2-oz samples of Big Rock’s various products, and everyone will be able to produce their own six-bottle pack to take home.

Please contact David regarding payment.

Cost is $45 CDN.
