Sustainability Projects Fund Seeking PGSS Members for Working Group

Published: 15 May 2018

The Sustainability Projects Fund (SPF) is looking for a PGSS representative to sit on its Working Group starting in September 2018 for a one- to two-year mandate. The PGSS representative would be one of eight Working Group members, who ensure that the SPF meets its mandate to build a culture of sustainability on McGill campuses through the development and seed-funding of interdisciplinary projects. The Working Group evaluates applications for sustainability projects on campus using the SPF Evaluation Criteria.  Additionally, it provides input on the governance and administration of the Fund itself.

Each representative is selected based on their level of engagement within McGill University; their understanding of sustainability as a whole and within the McGill community; and the complementarity of their expertise in relation to the other WG members. Members commit to attending a 2-hour meeting each month (there are usually no meetings in July and August) and to reading all meeting documents in advance (~3 hours of preparation). For more information, see the SPF WG Terms of Reference.

Sitting on the SPF WG is a great opportunity to take an active role in advancing sustainability in the McGill community, as well as participate in a diverse group that uses consensus-based decision-making and systems thinking in their deliberations. Interested PGSS members should sign-into www.pgss.mcgill.ca, click on My Account and then on Vacancies to upload their application for the item Sustainability Projects Fund Working Group. The position will remain open until filled. The PGSS representative’s mandate will be ratified at PGSS council.
