Dustin Valen wins Founders’ JSAH Article Award

The Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) has announced the 2017 recipients of the SAH Publication Awards and SAH Award for Film and Video. PhD student Dustin Valen has won the Founders’ JSAH Article Award for “On the Horticultural Origins of Victorian Glasshouse Culture,” Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians 75, no. 4 (December 2016): 403–423. The award recognizes an article published by an emerging scholar in the JSAH that exhibits excellence of scholarship and presentation. SAH presented the awards at its 70th Annual International Conference Awards Ceremony on June 8, at the University of Strathclyde's Barony Hall in Glasgow, Scotland. Each year, SAH presents publication awards honoring excellence in architectural history, urban history, landscape history and historic preservation scholarship as well as architectural exhibition catalogues.
