Cycling along Historic Waterways

Biking tour along the St. Lawrence River and the Lachine Canal, starts at Verdun Auditorium. We will take a safe route through Verdun, Lasalle and Lachine, then return along the Lachine Canal towards the Atwater Market and even Montreal harbour if energy is still there! Planning is important and you will be given appropriate information before departure.

Our experience of May 2013 has shown that you do not need to be an athlete to climb Mont Saint-Hilaire. This McGill property combines an enjoyable experience and a nice view of the surrounding environment. Detailed information and directions will be sent to participants before the event (Autoroute 30 is a good option for West Islanders). Possibility of car sharing.

La Muséologue fait référence au film "The Monuments Men" basé sur l'ouvrage de Robert Edsel, aux révélations du journal "Le Figaro", au catalogue de l'exposition "Œuvres volées, destins brisés" et au travail de Rose Vallant, conservatrice et archiviste du Jeu de Paume à Paris, grâce à qui plusieurs œuvres d'art volées ont été retrouvées. La restitution des ces œuvres, après 70 ans, est un réel casse-tête.

Isabella was a dynamic woman who had much to do with Spanish nationalism.  She was a devout Roman Catholic, which was a big influence on her reign.  Because of this she supported the Spanish Inquisition, and she expelled the Jews from Spain in 1492.  She supported Columbus, so was involved in the European discovery of America.

The Côte reflects Westmount's long history, from its days as an Amerindian trail, to early French farmers and large country estates. During the tour we will look at the current heritage public buildings and private homes. Meet at Westmount City Hall at 10:00 am, 4333 Sherbrooke West, west of Greene Avenue.
