Rankings are not No. 1 in some schools’ hearts

The University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management consistently does well in rankings of the world’s best business schools. For instance, Bloomberg Businessweek, the granddaddy of rankers, says the Toronto school is the 11th best globally, outside the United States.

Deb Nelson’s first “aha” moment came as she stood on the pavement outside a Montreal restaurant, struggling to summon the courage to go inside. 

... Montreal resident Tolulope Ilesanmi, company founder and chief executive officer, believes cleaning is as much a spiritual service as a physical act. For the past two years, he has invited executives to tap into a deeper sense of purpose by coming to Montreal and working alongside his professional cleaning crews. New analytics software breaks down numbers behind figure skating performances

Craig Buntin sits with his laptop overlooking the rink at Prospera Place and with a few taps on his keyboard pulls up a video and graphic of three-time world champion Patrick Chan.

... He initially searched for a separation from figure skating, and created TeaBean, a coffee and tea company based in Montreal which he eventually sold. He applied to the MBA program at McGill University, and became the first person accepted into the program without an undergraduate degree.

Marvin Corber, Robert B. Winsor to receive honorary degrees

Two outstanding contributors to Montreal community organizations will be honoured at McGill’s fall convocation ceremonies. Marvin Corber and Robert B. Winsor will both receive Doctor of Laws honorary degrees.

The convocation ceremonies will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29, in Salle Wilfrid Pelletier, Place des Arts. Two ceremonies will take place that day, the first at 10 a.m. and the second at 3 p.m.
