It may have been a long and winding road to travel for a six-kilometre trek to the other side of Mt. Royal but it paid off in the end as the visiting No.2-ranked McGill women's hockey team squeaked past the Université de Montreal Carabins 2-1 at CEPSUM Arena, Friday and clinched first place for the seventh straight year in the Quebec league.

In hockey, Wilfrid Laurier moves ahead of McGill on the women's side, while McGill takes over from UNB in the men's ranking. In track and field, Western Ontario (women) and Windsor (men) are the new teams to beat.
