Team captain Evan Vossen of Swift Current, Sask., scored the game-winner as the No.3-ranked McGill Redmen closed out the regular season with a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the uOttawa Sports Complex, Friday.

The V-Reds (20-5-3 / 3-0 playoffs) received 14 first-place votes and 166 points this week to remain at No. 1 in front of the McGill Redmen (22-4-2 / 6-0), who earned the remaining first-place nods and 151 points in the new poll.

The first organized game of ice hockey took place on March 3, 1875 at the Victoria Skating Rink in Montreal, based on a set of rules proposed by a group of McGill University students. The game also featured a few of those students.
