McGill football player and coach headed to IFAF world championship in Texas

Dallon Kuprowski, a native of Kanata, Ont., and a quarterback with the McGill Redmen, is among 35 players named to the Canadian junior national squad that will compete at the IFAF's under-19 world championship in Austin, Texas, June 28 to July 8. The team also features Patrick Boies, McGill's new offensive coordinator, who will be part of head coach Noel Thorpe's staff.

McGill grad to receive Military Decoration from Governor General, Thursday

David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will present a Meritorious Service Medal on Thursday to Major Derek Prohar, a McGill University graduate from Avonlea, Sask., who played hockey and football at McGill. The presentation ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m., in Rideau Hall.

Boies appointed offensive coordinator, becomes fourth full-time coach on football staff

Pat Boies, a 35-year-old native of Montreal, has been appointed offensive coordinator of the McGill University football team, announced Clint Uttley, head coach of the Redmen, on Thursday. Boies becomes the fourth full-time coach on the football staff since Sonny Wolfe stepped down last season. Prior to 2011, McGill had never had more than two full-time coaches on the football staff.

1938 McGill Football Champions: Never to be forgotten

The day was cold and windy, the turf muddy and slippery. A brisk November afternoon in Montreal did not dissuade an eager crowd of 13,000 fans on hand to see a championship football game. The McGill Redmen had won nothing but condolences for 10 years. Now they were one victory away from claiming the 1938 title in senior intercollegiate football.
