Web 2.U is an annual conference run by students of the School of Information Studies about information, technology, libraries, archives, knowledge management, and everything in between.
We explore what the social web is all about and where it’s going.
The ASIS&T McGill student chapter is pleased to announce that the annual EBSI-SIS student symposium will be held this year on Friday, March 15th, at the SIS mansion, 3661 Peel, on the McGill University campus from 9 am to 4 pm. This annual event is shared between the Information Studies program at McGill and EBSI at the Université de Montréal. This year's theme will be "Diving Into New Ideas: Collaboration as a Springboard" and will take a different format than that seen in previous years.
Professor France Bouthillier, Director of the School, will discuss cuts in higher education and curriculum review. The forum is open to School of Information Studies students, faculty, and staff.

Congratulations to School of Information Studies MLIS student Sarah Wilkinson on her book review in the Fall 2012 edition of Archivaria, the journal of the Association of Canadian Archivists. Sarah reviewed The Lone Arranger: Succeeding in a Small Repository by Christina Zamon, published by the Society of American Archivists. Read Sarah's review.

Meeting in the Middle: (de)Constructing Knowledge
Join EGSS this coming March in the McGill Education Building as EGSS hosts a gathering of diverse stakeholders in education for a “Meeting in the Middle,” where delegates and presenters will discuss and debate issues surrounding the constitution, production, and deconstruction of knowledge. We look to both conventional and unconventional spheres for contributors to this forum and are excited by the real possibility that new knowledge will emerge.

PhD student Rhiannon Gainor wins award at 2012 European Conference on Information Management and Evaluation
Congratulations to Rhiannon Gainor, School of Information Studies PhD student for receiving the honour of 'best PhD paper presentation' (jointly awarded) at the 2012 European Conference on Information Management and Evaluation in Cork, Ireland, Sept 13-14, 2012. The paper was titled 'A Methodology for Competitive Intelligence Metrics' and was co-authored with Professor Bouthillier.
