Column: There Was No One Else Like Herb Gray

Fri, 2014-04-25 10:29

Nothing so became Herb Gray (BCom'52) than the manner in which he left the House of Commons, where he was the third-longest serving parliamentarian in our history.

... Gray was proud to be Canada’s first Jewish cabinet minister. He grew up in a Canada that was not always kind to people of his ilk, but he succeeded nonetheless, studying commerce at McGill and law at Osgoode Hall.

Mon, 2014-03-24 16:59

Since January, I've been teaching a somewhat different type of course at McGill University. While saddled with the unfortunate standard curriculum name "Marketing and Society," the class is anything but.

... When I first put this course together, I had a discussion with two academics I respect immensely, Prof. Morty Yalovsky of McGill (who used to be MY stats prof in my undergrad years) and Prof. Pete McGraw of the University of Colorado at Boulder (and co-author of the upcoming book "The Humor Code").

Reddit Founder Alexis Ohanian on How to Change the World with a Little Code and Some Internet

Wed, 2014-03-19 15:38

Alexis Ohanian is many things: a dedicated entrepreneur who is an ambassador for the prestigious Y Combinator program he graduated from; a political and social web activist; the founder of Reddit; the author of Without their Permission; and as it turns out, extraordinarily tall.

Thanks to the McHacks organizing committee, and McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management, he came to speak to a jam-packed room in the center of Montreal.
