A balanced attack led the McGill Martlets to a 65-61 come-from-behind victory over the visiting Bishop's Gaiters in Quebec university women's basketball at Love Competition Hall, Thursday. McGill had four players in double figures as they rallied from a 10-point deficit late in the second quarter. It was McGill's fourth major come-from-behind victory in recent weeks.
Anneth Him-Lazarenko of Panama City scored a game-high 17 points and Francoise Charest added 16 as visiting McGill rallied from an early 16-point deficit and came away with a 68-62 victory over Laval in women's university basketball at the Centre PEPS, Friday. In the men's contest, Laval outlasted McGill 71-65 in overtime.
Anneth Him-Lazarenko and Natalie Larocque scored 18 points apiece as the McGill women's basketball team rallied from a 17-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat Thompson Rivers University 74-69 to finish fifth of eight teams at the Concordia-Reebok Invitational tournament, Saturday.
Five varsity sports teams from McGill University will be spending their holiday break in action this week.
