The college basketball season gets an early start this weekend, when McGill plays host to a number of NCAA teams. In women's hoops, the Martlets will open their 91st season by hosting Youngstown State on Friday. In men's action, the Redmen open their 112th campaign by hosting Northeastern on Sunday and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV) Runnin' Rebels on Tuesday.

HAMPDEN, Maine — Maine’s Mr. Basketball is crossing the border to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level. But he’s not headed south. Christian McCue, who led Hampden Academy to this year’s Eastern Maine Class A championship, will attend McGill University in Montreal this fall.
McGill took home 18 of 84 bursaries handed out at the 26th annual Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence gala, Wednesday, as a combined total of $189,750 was doled out to worthy student-athletes from nine Quebec universities.
