Congratulations to McGill School of Information Studies PhD student Fei Shu, recently awarded the 2015 ASIS&T SIG/MET Student Paper Contest for the paper “Evolution of iSchool Movement (1988-2013): A Bibliometric View” by Fei Shu and Philippe Mongeon (McGill University and University de Montreal).
As well, Fei’s paper "Twitter Activity and Scientific Collaboration of LIS schools and Faculty Members", co-authored with two PhD students from EBSI, won the Best Altmetrics Paper in the SIG/MET workshop at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting in November 2015.

The Royal Society of Canada today announced 14 new Fellows from McGill University including Dr. Claudia Mitchell, James McGill Professor with the Faculty of Education's Department of Integrated Studies in Education.
Dr. Claudia Mitchell, of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from Mid Sweden University's Faculty of Human Sciences. This commendation, a result of her nomination by the interdisciplinary Gender Studies Forum at Mid Sweden University, will be delivered officially on October 9th, 2015.

Veronika Horlik, Art Education instructor with our faculty's Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE), has been announced as the recipient of the 2015 RBC Emerging Artist People's Choice Award. The award particularly celebrates the artistic medium of clay. Horlik's winning submission is entitled PROUNS(SLASH), and is a 300-pound ceramic reinterpretation of Japanese video game Katamari Damacy, also drawing inspiration from Horlik's experience with the Canadian reforestation industry.
Family histories have a real influence on career choices. This is particularly true of Berdj Garabedian, who is the 2015 recipient of the McGill Associates Prize in Translation (French-English). Mr. Garabedian received this distinction at the spring graduation ceremony when he was awarded his Certificate in Translation.
