A freshman and a fifth-year senior stole the show at the 28th annual McGill intercollegiate awards gala held at the McGill Sports Centre Thursday. Mathieu Poitras of Gatineau, Que., and Danielle Day of Ile Bizard, Que., received the D. Stuart Forbes and Gladys Bean trophies, respectively, as the student-athletes who have brought the most credit to the University by reason of their athletic achievements.

McGill's Jen Thomson named CIS volleyball rookie of the year

McGill's Jennifer Thomson, a 5-foot-7 power hitter from Rosemere, Que., has been named Canadian Interuniversity Sport rookie of the year in women's volleyball. She was one of numerous honorees announced at the Husky All-Canadian awards dinner held at the Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Wednesday.
