The challenge of merging new acquisitions with company culture

There are two different kinds of acquisitions: ‘scale acquisitions’ and ‘bolt-on acquisitions’, and we tend to focus on the latter. We like to buy a technology and ‘plug it in’, because our sales force and distribution channel are second to none. The last six deals we’ve done were all about technologies or products that we wanted to own. In these cases, some of the management team stays with us, but we’re really taking on a new product and adding it to our existing culture.

Then McGill Chemistry Department recent graduate Nick Uhlig has you covered. The Li lab alum has recently made available several charming Valentine’s Day cards through the online marketplace Redbubble. “I wanted to do it for a long time and kept saving up the ideas, but really only got to it after graduating.” says Uhlig, who now works as a medicinal chemist at Gilead Sciences’ in Edmonton, Alberta.

Hockey Canada can't ignore Ann-Sophie Bettez any longer

Ann-Sophie Bettez was named CWHL player of the month for January. She is second in the league in scoring right now, behind only Marie-Philip Poulin. Bettez has amassed 125 points in 86 games over the course of her CWHL career, has won three national championships with McGill University and yet, at 28 years old, hasn't represented her country at the senior level.

KPE's Mélodie Daoust (B.Ed. Physical Education) to play for Canada at Nations Cup

Mélodie Daoust, captain of the McGill Martlets, has been named by Hockey Canada to play at the 2016 Nations Cup tournament in Füssen, Germany, Jan. 4-7.

The Canadian women’s development team will participate in the four-day competition along with national teams from Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.
