Discussions with AGSEM TAs on discrimination and harassment

At the February 2 session with AGSEM TAs, the university proposed an amendment to the clause on discrimination and harassment, in response to the union’s concerns about having information on all possible recourses at their disposal in such circumstances.  The parties were unable to reach an agreement.

Discussions continue with AMUSE floor fellows on ‘purpose of the agreement’

At the January 23 session with AMUSE floor fellows, the parties discussed the inclusion in the collective agreement of descriptions of roles and responsibilities and values. More specifically, the union wants the focus to be on harm reduction and anti-oppression as key issues they must deal with in their work.

New funding for biosensor research

Prof Xinyu Liu is one of 10 McGill researchers to receive a 2015 NSERC Strategic Project Grant. His proposal, entitled "Paper-based microfluidic devices intergrating inGaN/GaN semiconductor microtubes for ultrasensitive detection of disease markers," has been awarded $394,300 to investigate portable, ultrasensitive biosensors that can quickly detect disease markers.

Pierre Beaudoin steps down as chief in dramatic Bombardier shakeup

In a dramatic shakeup at family controlled Bombardier Inc., Pierre Beaudoin is stepping down as president and chief executive officer while his father, Laurent, is retiring as chairman and there are plans afoot for the possible sale of some business units.
Former United Technologies Corp. executive Alain Bellemare is set to replace Pierre Beaudoin – who held the CEO position for 6 1/2 years – on Friday and Pierre Beaudoin will become executive chairman of Bombardier.
