Aliens will be the topic of conversation today at McGill. Dr Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute, will discuss the probability of finding intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.

A freshman and a fifth-year senior stole the show at the 28th annual McGill intercollegiate awards gala held at the McGill Sports Centre Thursday. Mathieu Poitras of Gatineau, Que., and Danielle Day of Ile Bizard, Que., received the D. Stuart Forbes and Gladys Bean trophies, respectively, as the student-athletes who have brought the most credit to the University by reason of their athletic achievements.

Dr. Brenda Milner: 2005 Gairdner Award Winner

Dr. Brenda Milner, recognized as a founder of cognitive neuroscience, was named a 2005 winner of the prestigious Gairdner Award. Dr. Milner, the Dorothy J. Killam Professor at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI), and Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University, was awarded the prize for her pioneering research in memory.
