An engaging lecture by Canada's first Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. David Butler-Jones, who will discuss and take questions regarding emerging trends in infectious disease and its environmental determinants, as well as Canada's role in global public health. Dr. Butler-Jones heads the Public Health Agency of Canada, which provides leadership on the government's efforts to protect and promote the health and safety of Canadians.

Innocence McGill 3rd annual conference: Dealing with wrongful convictions

This year, our speakers will be representing academic, practical and personal experiences with wrongful convictions, both in Canada and the U.S. Featured speakers: Professor Alan Young (Osgoode Hall Law School Innocence Project), Olga Akselrod (staff attorney at the New York Innocence Project) and Joyce Milgaard (mother of wrongfully convicted David Milgaard). Refreshments to follow in the Atrium. Some young students invited though our High School Outreach Project will be attending, so why not take a moment to chat with them about the law and a legal education, or answer their questions?

His research interests include political behaviour, political psychology, citizen competence, attitude change, voting, public opinion, surveys and methodology. He is co-investigator of the Canadian Election Study for the 2000, 2004 and upcoming elections. His work has been published in such journals as Canadian Journal of Political Science, Electoral Studies, Journal of Politics, Political Behavior and Public Opinion Quarterly.
